Well, I returned it within the 15 days allowed. I discovered someone at MSI said, “Hey, this 2060 super heat sink and fan cools pretty well...we should just use that same cooler on a 2070 super that throws off 50 more watts and it should be just fine....”
Meanwhile, the buyers of the two fan unit are holding their ears while ratcheting up the fan speed just to compensate for the added heat . I changed out some fans for quieter models and added some others for better heat removal, but it was no use. The noise was awful and the heat was terrible. That card is no Bueno unless you don’t care about noise.
My wife told me to return it and find something quieter. I will. But I am also changing out cases and making the kids school computer something that works well and efficient.

I’m using that c rusty 1060 and now that I’ve removed the CPU folding slot, it’s nearly silent and folding at a rate of 400-500,000 PPD at around 240 watts total power consumption. I’ve got a GTX580 sitting over here on the table that supposedly is a chunk faster at folding than the 1060.
My records show that you haven’t emailed me yet to claim your sticker...

To be honest, I tend to think that it’s more likely they decided it would be good to use the same cooler for the 2060 even though in their minds it’s overspe cc ed. Video card makers have some funny ideas about what is quiet enough.
At least in general
they’ve finally figured out that there’s no need to spin up the fans on a card that’s running cool, though even that a recent in some cases. I returned a Radeon
580
a year and a half ago because it insisted on running its loud-
ass fans at idle when it was like 30°C. Now I have the 5500XT version of the same card which is more expensive and doesn’t perform significantly
better, but is quieter at full load than the 580 was at idle.
